New Delhi: Firing fresh salvo on Modi government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday tweeted 5 graphs of different countries and claimed that India’s Coronavirus lockdown was a failed one.

Comparing India’s Coronavirus lockdown with four worst-affected countries including Italy, Spain, Germany and UK, Rahul sought to suggest that our lockdown strategy was erroneous and it resulted in a failure.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted five graphs which showed how lockdowns in European countries had helped bring down the number of daily cases but in India, the surge continued despite the lockdown in force.

The graph also suggests that in Western countries, the decision to exit from lockdown was taken when the pandemic had reached/crossed its peak and after lockdown, it started to decline.

However, in India, the decision to lift the lockdown came at a time when the growth is at an all-time high.

Congress is only supporting govt, not a ‘key player’: Rahul Gandhi shirks responsibility of what is happening in Maharashtra

According to India’s graph, the Corona cases are rising exponentially even after 4 phases of Lockdown and the recent Unlock1 meant to rejuvenate the flagging economy.

Rahul Gandhi has been critical of Modi government’s handling of Covid-19, the subsequent lockdown and its dreadful impact on the migrant labourers.

World lauded India for timely lockdown

Nation-wide lockdown was implemented by Modi government from March 25 to contain the spread of Coronavirus and was extended in 4 phases till May 31. From June 1 onwards, all economic activities have begun except in containment zones.

Congress leader may be critical of Modi govt’s lockdown strategy but India model earned worldwide praise, with the WHO itself acknowledging and admiring India for timely imposition of lockdown.
