Yogi Government’s zero-tolerance towards corruption; more than 2100 Govt officials sent behind bars

In the state between 2017 to 2019, the prosecution department has taken action against the officers and employees in 1648 corruption cases in courts. Punishment was also awarded to 42.85 per cent of trap cases.

New Delhi: The zero-tolerance policy of chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instilled a sense of fear among the corrupt officials and employees of the state government. Under this drive against graft, the SIT of Economic Offences Wing (EoW) has been tasked with probing the Muradnagar incident.

The action against corruption and the corrupt in the last three-and-a-half-years of Yogi rule can be gauged by the fact that 2100-plus officials and government employees have been sent behind bars and they have faced stringent action as well.

In early 2017, as many as 578 suits were pending. While in 2017, 38 people were arrested red-handed accepting bribes, 14 in Non-Trap cases and five other officers and employees have been arrested.

In the same manner, in 2018, 390 officers and employees were arrested red-handed  while 130 officials and employees were nabbed while taking bribes in non-trap cases. In 2019, 835 bribe seekers were arrested and 241 officers and employees were arrested in non-trap. In 2019, 26.47 per cent officers and employees have been punished for being caught red-handed accepting bribes while 25 per cent in non-traps.

Action against 480 convicted police personnel in two years

The Appointment Department has taken stringent punitive action against 50 PCS officers and minor punitive action against 44 PCS officers since April 1, 2017. The police department has taken action against 480 convicted police personnel in the last two years 2019 and 2020 on complaints of corruption, in which cases were prosecuted in 45 cases and three were dismissed. Apart from this, 68 police personnel were also punished in the same measure.

Action against 429 police personnel for misconduct with people

Action has also been taken on officials, employees for misbehaving with people. Action has been taken against 429 police personnel in the last two years. 14 cases have been registered and two police personnel have also been dismissed. Apart from this 106 police personnel were punished with imprisonment etc.
