Yogi govt bans sale of liquor around Ram Temple in Ayodhya

With the ‘Shila Pujan’ by CM Yogi, the first phase of construction gets over and second phase of temple construction begins.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the ‘Shila Pujan’ of the sanctum sanctorum of Ram temple on Wednesday and said that this will be a ‘national temple of India’.

In another development, the Yogi government has imposed a blanket ban on liquor shops in the vicinity of Ram Temple. A similar order has been issued for Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, reports said. Earlier, sale of meat was banned in and around Krishna temple in Mathura.

In the 2021 order, the UP govt had declared Mathura-Vrindavan as pilgrimage site and banned sale of meat & liquor in 10 km periphery of the area.

The UP government has also cancelled the licence of liquor shops in areas near Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The order which comes into effect from June 1, 2022, the same day, when the construction of Garbhagrih begins in Ayodhya.

With the ‘Shila Pujan’ by CM Yogi, the first phase of construction gets over and second phase of temple construction begins.

The Ram Temple is being built in a 3-stage time frame.

According to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the sanctum sanctorum of the temple will be completed by December 2023.

By 2023, the Garbhagriha will be ready, by 2024 end, the temple construction will happen while the main complex will be completed by 2025, Nripendra Mishra, chairman of Ram temple construction committee told newsmen.

The foundation stone of the grand Ram Temple was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020. Since then, the construction work is going at fast pace.
