Ayodhya: In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to establish Ayodhya as the cleanest city, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to deploy 800 Safai Mitras in the city in view of the increasing traffic of devotees ahead of Makar Sankranti and consecration ceremony.

The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has started preparations in view of the rising number of devotees taking a dip in the holy ghats of Sarayu on Makar Sankranti and the large crowd expected after the consecration ceremony on January 22.

In this regard, the tendering process has been started by Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, which will be completed soon. Through this tendering process, an agency will be selected to oversee the deployment of 800 safai mitras and monitor their works. The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation team will collaborate with the selected agency to ensure the completion of all sanitation processes.

Yogi govt’s special focus is on cleanliness

Ayodhya

As the number of tourists and pilgrims visiting Ayodhya continues to rise, the city is facing an increasing demand for facilities and services to meet their needs. In line with Chief Minister Yogi’s vision, the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation is making efforts to ensure adequate manpower for maintaining cleanliness from Makar Sankranti until the consecration ceremony.

The deployment of Safai Mitras will be completed with the engagement of appropriate manpower for a limited period of two months. During this time, there will be a 24×7 deployment of temporary workers in shifts, with the first shift to be held from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the third shift from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, as needed, with possible adjustments based on demand.

Responsibilities of Safai Mitra

Safai Mitras will perform various tasks such as road cleaning, central area cleaning, ghat cleaning, toilet cleaning, office, field, and facility cleaning, among others. Their responsibilities won’t be limited to specific areas but will encompass overall cleanliness. The work will be assigned by the Sanitation Chief. They will have to ensure fulfillment of all mandatory rules by the Municipal Inspector (CSI) and ensure indemnification of the Municipal Corporation from any legal/administrative consequences arising out of non-fulfillment/non-compliance of any Act/Rules.

The age limit for these workers will be in accordance with government standards, and they will wear a complete uniform with proper identification during duty hours. Provision has been made for different uniforms during the winter and summer months.

The agency responsible for hiring Safai Mitras will ensure that the services provided are complete, and the tools, materials, and equipment necessary for performing tasks are not damaged. They will also be provided proper guidance, training, lodging, and all necessary facilities to carry out the work effectively.
