Rohit Sharma becomes third batsman to score 5000 runs in IPL

Other two players to have scored over 5,000 runs in the IPL are Royal Challengers Banglore captain Virat Kohli and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Suresh Raina.

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has became 3rd batsman to score 5,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The explosive batsman achieved the feat while batting against King XI Punjab with a glorious cover drive. Rohit has now hit more than 5,000 runs in 191 IPL matches.

Other two players to have scored over 5,000 runs in the IPL are Royal Challengers Banglore captain Virat Kohli and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Suresh Raina.

Kohli has 5,430 runs in his kitty from 180 games while Raina scored 5,368 runs while playing 193 matches. Rohit and Raina have hit 1 century in IPL till now while Kohli has slammed 5 centuries.

David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper is on 4th spot in IPL chart as he has score 4,793 runs from 129 matches.

Meanwhile in the ongoing match, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mumbai Indians lost quick wickets, Quinton de Kock got out in first over.

Both the teams have won a single match so far. However, KXIP is above Mumbai Indians in the IPL points tally, owing to better net run rate.

Raina’s congratulatory message to Rohit

Suresh Raina congratulated Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma as he completed 5,000 runs in the IPL 13.

Taking to twitter, Raina wrote, “Heartiest congratulations my brother on achieving another great milestone of completing 5k runs @ImRo45. Proud of you, more power to you!”.
