“Amber Heard Of India”: Darlings’ erupts rage on Twitter, users accuse Alia Bhatt of promoting violence against men

In several scenes, she can be seen kidnapping, torturing and even hitting her husband with a pan as he sits with his body tied to a chair

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt’s upcoming dark comedy venture Darlings, the movie which she has produced with Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, has landed in soup after a section of Twitter users found its content to be highly objectionable on Thursday.

A day before the film is set to stream online on the OTT platform Netflix, Twitteratis accused Bhatt of promoting violence against men via ‘Darlings’ and further called for her boycott.

While many offended by several scenes from Darlings’ trailer and teaser took to social media to express the horror of normalising the abuse against men, others asked fellow netizens to boycott the film and promote gender neutrality.

Now you must be wondering what offended the social media users up to this extent. Well, here’s what happened:

In the trailer and teaser of the film dropped by creators last month, the character of Alia Bhatt named Badru is a victim of domestic violence and seeks revenge from her husband in the film.

In several scenes, she can be seen kidnapping, torturing and even hitting her husband with a pan as he sits on a chair with his upper body tied to it.
