New Delhi: Rongali Bihu is celebrated as the beginning of the new year in Assam. This year Rongali Bihu is being celebrated today (April 14).
There are four phases of Bihu which falls in different months , they are – Rongali Bihu, Magh Bihu, Kati Bihu, Bohag Bihu.In the month of April Rongali Bihu is celebrated which marks the beginning of Assamese new year and last for seven days.
It is celebrated with a special dance called Bihu dance , which is performed by the locals wearing their traditional attire.

It is the harvesting festival of Assamese community, they celebrate it with great joy, make delicious dishes and offer prayers and bhog to the god .
Rongali Bihu and Bhoga Bihu is celebrated in the month of April while the other two i.e. Kati Bihu and Magh Bihu is celebrated in the month of October.
