New Delhi: Heartbreaks are never easy to deal with. From drowning oneself in alcohol, crying profusely in a pillow to confiding to friends, people try out different ways to heal their inner scar. However, the 21-year-old from Dehradun found out an innovative way to deal with his heartbreak.

Divyanshu Batra, opened up his cafe named ‘Dil Tuta Aashiq – Chai Wala’ months after he underwent a breakup with his girlfriend after dating from three years. Reportedly, he spent six months in depression and all his time playing PUBG. However, he soon realised enough of mourning over the break-up and thus came up with the idea of starting this new venture.

During his break-up phase, he realised that his brother went through a break-up as well. Thus while talking about the feelings they “that a simple conversation & the feeling of having ‘someone’ to confide in made us feel lighter. I thought, ‘Why not start a place where strangers can come together & talk about that one thing that binds us all–love & heartbreak?!’” Thus the duo came up with the idea of opening a café where people would come and unload their feelings over “chai and pakoras.”

The café is located at the GMS Road area of Dehradun and has been successful in attracting a lot of heartbroken lovers. Divyanshu stated that along with serving chai, he also served conversations – “I’d talk to my customers, the length of the conversation never mattered, if anyone needed an ear, I was there!”

While talking about one of such instances, he stated, “Once, 2 friends visited my café & when I went to their table, one of them joked, ‘Yeh thode din mein aap hi ke paas aane wala hai’ to which I responded ‘Kyu, girlfriend ki shadi ho rahi hai?’ I was just being playful, but his friend hugged me & broke down; his girlfriend was actually getting married. That night, the café stayed open until morning–we spoke & spoke; I even talked him out of his impulsive decision of dating someone else. ‘You need to give your heart the space to heal’ I advised. 4 months later, he visited my café again & got me a gift.”

Hand written notes

Over the year, his cafe has seen so many heart-to-heart, tears, and Dil Tute Aashiqs. Divyanshu said that his café rose to fame not only because of chai but for the conversations and feeling heard. “Somewhere all these conversations even healed me,” he added.
