Menstrual hygiene campaign: ABVP’s women wing distributes sanitary pads to slum students

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has decided to bring forth a solution to this problem and start an awareness campaign for easy, affordable and healthy menstruation.

New Delhi: The women wing of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) distributed sanitary napkins among female students residing in the slums of Dwarka Sector 12, as part of an awareness campaign about proper sanitation and health concerns during menstruation.

Girl activists from Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Science and Deen dyal Upadhyay College took initiative of this campaign.

ABVP Delhi Girl’s working In-charge Velentina Brahma said this is the second phase of the our awareness campaign. We have previously distributed Sanitary Napkins in Dakshinpuri area of Delhi and created awareness about proper sanitation, health and hygiene during menstruation and also the need to use biodegradable pads.

“Even today women in Delhi are using clothes instead of sanitary pads that is causing various health-related problems to them. Students used to get sanitary napkins from their school but, now they do not have the same accessibility because of the lockdown,” she said.
