Odisha’s Shreya Lenka one step away from becoming 1st ever K-pop star from India

The 18-year-old diva who hails from Jharsuguda city of Odisha, will now have to compete with Brazil’s Gabriela Dalcin

New Delhi: India’s Shreya Lenka is just one step away from becoming first K-pop idol from the country. The 18-year-old diva who hails from Jharsuguda city of Odisha made it to the final rounds of the audition.

The global auditions were held to select the fifth member of the popular K-pop group Black Swan. In order make it to K-pop group, Lenkar will now have to compete with Brazil’s Gabriela Dalcin.

According to news daily Odhisha Bytes, Shreya is a professional dancer, singer and yoga practitioner and is currently being trained by the Korean Music label DR Music Entertainment in South Korea.

Shreya, who already happens to be a K-pop enthusiast, reportedly came across the opportunity while surfing social media.

In the K-pop group Black Swan, which made its debut in 2020, a position was vacant as its member Hyeme left the group after her contract expired.

To secure her position in the group, apart from honing her dancing and singing skills, Shreya will also have to work on learning the land’s dialect.

The contestants will be evaluated on their skills, personality, and qualities to become a K-pop artiste, reported Odisha Bytes.

The publication further informed that Shreya had been training under ‘Boogie Woogie HipHop’ 2009 winner, Madan Mohan Purty.
