
New Delhi: Chennai has been experiencing incessant rainfall and Thursday was no less as the depression came closer to the coast. Reportedly more than 400 neighbourhoods have been flooded and the government officials have been using pumps to drain the waist-level water that clogged some communities. Besides, several districts in Tamil Nadu are on high alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned the state of further intense rainfall in isolated places.
Several photos and videos are going around the internet that show people struggling in knee-deep waters and vehicles submerged in the heavily flooded roads. Among these, photos and videos of locals helping each other, as well as stranded animals, have been widely shared.
One of the heart-warming videos has gone viral where a woman police officer named Rajeswari is seen carrying a cemetery worker, who was lying unconscious on her shoulders at least for 100 metres. Rajeswari, called an auto-rickshaw with the help of others and admitted him to the nearest hospital.

Reportedly, the unconscious man named Udaya was suffering from poor health for some days. After reaching the cemetery and due to continuous rainfall his health got deteriorated.
Udaya was believed to be dead after being struck by an uprooted tree. He was found unconscious on the side of a road in Kilpauk next to an uprooted tree. The passerby called the police and reported that he was dead.
