New Delhi: Today is a very special occasion and the reason behind this day being special is that it’s a rare palindrome date which is taking place after almost 900 years.
Palindrome refers to a number or a segment that reads the same forwards as it does backwards. The previous eight-digit palindrome was 11/11/1111, 909 years ago and the next palindrome date in will happen on 12/12/2121, after 101 years.

Though the palindrome dates aren’t uncommon, this one takes a special place as it reads the same in multiple date systems. While some countries use date-month-year format, there are others who follow month-date-year system. Today’s date – 02/02/2020 – reads the same in both the systems.
The previous palindrome date came 909 years ago on 11/11/1111. The next will come in 101 years on 12/12/2121 and after that, there will not be another until 03/03/3030.
In addition to the rare palindrome date phenomena, it is also Groundhog Day in Canada and America. The day is part of a long-standing tradition in which a groundhog is used to determine how many more weeks of winter there will be.
