TDI builders chairman ‘abuses’ horticulture manager, latter kills self by consuming poison

A horticulture manager employed in TDI builders today killed himself after allegedly being abused and harassed by the company. His wife has alleged that TDI chairman hurled abuses at him, following which he took the extreme step.

New Delhi: In an unfortunate incident, a horticulture manager employed in TDI city Kundli killed himself by consuming poison after allegedly being abused by the company chairman. Naresh Kumar consumed poison in the office premises only, following which he was taken to hospital. He was declared dead. His wife has alleged that TDI builders chairman DN Taneja abused and harassed his husband and also hurled expletives at him, following which he took the extreme step.

The 60-year-old Naresh Kumar lived in Rohini Sector-23 with his wife Sumitra and was engaged with company’s TDI city project as horticulture manager for last 14 years. She claimed that TDI chairman used to call him names and hurl abuses at her husband.

“Naresh Kumar was on leave for last 10 days. But, he was pressurized to come to office and there, he was being forced to sign a document”, his wife said.

She also alleges that her husband was threatened for his life. On Monday, after another round of abuse and harassment by the company management, he consumed poison. His fellow colleagues took him to nearby hospital but the horticulture manager succumbed to his injuries. Naresh’s wife Sumitra is demanding that the TDI chairman be booked for ‘forcing’ him to commit suicide or for threatening to kill him.

‘TDI didn’t give salary for last 3 months’

Sumitra has also alleged that the company didn’t give him salary for last 3 months. She has demanded a fair and thorough probe into the case.

According to his wife, Naresh Kumar was sent for purchasing plants/trees for plantation in the society despite being ill. When he brought that, he was forced and pressurized to get them planted.

FIR lodged, investigation on

SHO Ravi Kumar of the area said that a case has been lodged in the case and investigation is underway.
