Asia Cup 2023: Jasprit Bumrah receives special gift from Shaheen Afridi, PCB shares video

New dad Jasprit Bumrah was left speechless after Shaheen’s kind gesture.

New Delhi: The India vs Pakistan rivalry in cricket is known for its heated moments on and off the field. However, it also includes a number of heartwarming moments.

One such moment became the talk of the town amidst the chaos created by the rain god in Colombo.

After India vs Pakistan, the Super 4 match was postponed to a reserved day because of rain. All the players decided to head back to their hotels for rest, but not before the Pakistani pace spearhead decided to create one of the sweetest moments of the tournament.

In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter), Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi can be seen giving a surprise gift to the Indian pacer and newly promoted dad, Jasprit Bumrah.

The video by PCB was captioned, “Spreading joy, Shaheen Afridi delivers smiles to new dad Jasprit Bumrah.” You can check the video below:

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganeshan, welcomed their first child on September 4. Indian pace spearhead introduced his baby boy ‘Angad Bumrah’ through his Instagram page with the caption, “Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah, into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it – Jasprit and Sanjana.”

Earlier, the India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash was interrupted by rain at 24.1 overs through the first innings. India was sitting at a comfortable position with 147 for 2 on the board.

At the time of interruption, Virat Kohli (8*) and KL Rahul (17*), were at the crease after getting a scintillating start from Rohit Sharma (56) and Subhman Gill (58), adding 121 runs for the first wicket.

 

Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan picked one wicket each for Pakistan.

The match will now resume from 24.1 overs of Indian innings from 15:00 Hrs, IST, with the full 50-over game on board.
