Bhubaneshwar Kumar’s father loses battle with cancer at 63

Bhubaneshwar’s father was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Noida but for last few days, was staying at home with the rest of the family, said reports. Two days after he was discharged from the hospital, Kiran Pal Singh breathed his last.

New Delhi: In a heart-breaking development, Team India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar lost his father on Thursday to cancer. His father, Kiran Pal Singh was fighting a battle against cancer for a long time and also had liver ailments.

Kiran Pal Singh, who was a sub-inspector with the Uttar Pradesh Police, passed away at his Meerut residence. He was 63.

He was earlier undergoing treatment at a hospital in Noida but for last few days, was staying at home with the rest of the family, said reports. Two days after he was discharged from the hospital, Kiran Pal Singh breathed his last.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father was first diagnosed with liver cancer in September 2020 when the fast bowler was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League in the UAE, according to reports.

Meanwhile, controversy broke out recently over dropping Bhuvneshwar Kumar from Indian Test squad for England. The team was asked to assemble in Mumbai ahead of their departure to the UK for the upcoming tour of England but he was surprisingly not named in the red-ball squad despite being fit. He is expected to return to action when India tour Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series in July.
