Cricket World Cup schedule released: Check all fixtures of tournament (Oct 5 – Nov 19)

The month-long tournament will conclude with the final encounter on November 19.

New Delhi: The Cricket World Cup, one of the biggest cricketing extravaganza is all set to kick off from October 5, 2023. The month-long tournament will conclude with the final encounter on November 19.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the full schedule & fixtures for all 10 teams that will vie for the coveted trophy in more than a month long tournament.

The World Cup tournament will kick off on October 5, with maiden clash between England and New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium. Notably, these two teams had locked horns in 2019 WC final.
India will kick-start its campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.

World Cup 2023: Tournament Venues

For cricket-loving nation like India, this couldn’t have better. A total of 10 venues have been earmarked for the mega event, that will stretch over a span of 46 days, in October-November this year.

A total of 10 stadiums have been shortlisted where the teams would lock horns with each other. They are Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata.

“Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in addition to Hyderabad will host the warm-up matches from 29 September to 3 October,” said the ICC in official statement.

World Cup 2023: League match format

In the league matches, each team will have an opportunity to play with other 9 teams in a round robin format. Out of all, the top 4 performing teams will qualify for the knock-out stage & then the semi-finals.

The final group stage match will take place on November 12 and will see England vs Pakistan in Kolkata.

Knockout Stages

All the knock-out matches will be day-night games and will begin at 2PM.

As per fixed format, there would be two semi-finals and the winner of them will move to final. The first semi-final will be played on November 15 in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium while second semis will be held at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

Both semi-final clashes will have a reserve day, to make up for any interventions by raingods playing spoilsport.
The final clash will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.
