In the recent press conference that Gambhir before the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, Gambhir stated “One thing I can be very clear is that both of those guys (Rohit and Virat) have a lot of cricket left in them…”

Subsequently, GG has left the door open for both the stars to continue to play for the nation as long as possible. Naturally, the possibility of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both making it to the national side for the 2027 World Cup remains open. However, Gautam has reiterated the fact that both players have indicated that fitness will be a major parameter for both the cricketers if they are to don the blue jersey again at the 2027 World Cup.

The big ask is can India rely on 40-year-old Rohit Sharma and 38-year-old Virat Kohli yet again for the 2027 World Cup. India which is brimming with talent has to look beyond the “RoKo” duo in the years to come.
