India Vs Pak, Asia Cup: Rains may play spoilsport, match may get washed out… details here

Early weather reports show heavy thunderstorms at Kandy stadium on September 2.

New Delhi: The Asian cricket fever is at its peak with the beginning of Asia Cup 2023. With the first two matches of the tournament concluded, all eyes are now on the clash of the Titans between India and Pakistan on September 2.

The much-awaited clash between the arch-rivals will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy, in Sri Lanka.

The match will be played in Sri Lanka despite Pakistan being the official host for the tournament. The decision was taken by ICC after BCCI refused to send their team to Pakistan over diplomatic concerns.

Nonetheless, the craze of the India vs. Pakistan match is still intact as despite the change in venues, fans from both countries are booking tickets in bulk for the much-anticipated match.

However, between all this excitement, there is a bit of concern amongst everyone now as the rain god might have the final call on the game.

The weather reports for Kandy show heavy thunderstorms throughout the day, which, if proven true, can result in washing away the match.

The chances of rain are over 90 per cent, while the cloud coverage is also close to 100 per cent. This is not going to be good news for the fans, not only in the two neighbouring nations but also for the fans all around the world, as India vs. Pakistan is not only famous in the Asian contingent but among people throughout the world.

As soon as the weather reports came out, netizens decided to give their take through the social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter). Check out their reactions below:

Notably, if the rain does decide to play spoilsport and the match does end up washing away, It will still be an acceptable situation for Pakistan.

Pakistan, defeated the debutante Nepal by a mammoth total of 238, runs in the tournament opener and only needed a solitary point to qualify for the next stage, which a washed-away match can do for them.

On the other hand, if the match gets washed away, then India’s clash against Nepal will end up coming a do-or-die match for them.
