IPL UPDATES: Jason Holder arrives in Chennai to join SRH squad

New Delhi: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik on Monday confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches would be going ahead in Mumbai as planned and there would be no hurdles.

His confirmation comes a day after it was announced that Maharashtra would be entering weekend lockdown from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 pm to curb the spread of Covid-19.

On Sunday, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had also confirmed that everything will go on as per schedule in the 14th edition of the IPL.

UPDATES:

# West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder on Monday arrived in Chennai for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Holder is part of the SunRisers Hyderabad franchise captained by David Warner.

The Warner-led side had won five out of their last six games to qualify for the playoffs in the 13th edition of the tournament and the team will be looking to carry forward the momentum in this year’s IPL.

# South Africa opening batsman David Miller is on his way to link up with the Rajasthan Royals squad in Mumbai ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

The left-handed batsman was seen in action in the first two ODIs against Pakistan, in which he managed to score 100 runs, going past the 50-run mark in both the ODIs

# While the players of Rajasthan Royals will miss the joy of playing on a familiar pitch and the cheer and support of their fans at their home ground, they ensured that there was excitement in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium this season with a splendid show in partnership with Red Bull India to reveal their jersey for the 2021 season.

# Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Simon Katich has lavishly praised Australia’s Glenn Maxwell saying that the latter is a multi-purpose player the franchise had been looking for.

RCB went all out for Maxwell and New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson in the mini-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL), held in February. The franchise bought Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore while Jamieson was sold for Rs 15 crore.

# Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed up Gurkeerat Singh Mann as a replacement for batsman Rinku Singh, who will be unavailable for the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season due to a knee injury. Rinku, who made his IPL debut in 2017, has played a total of 11 IPL games. His replacement, Gurkeerat, last played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 13th edition of the tournament before being released ahead of the IPL 2021 auction.

# Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey feels his side is balanced as it has most bases covered to take on teams in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

CSK picked up six players at the 2021 auction, headlined by off-spin bowling all-rounders Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham, after buying top-order batsman Robin Uthappa in a trade with Rajasthan Royals.
