James Faulkner withdraws from Pakistan Super League (PSL) over ‘non-payment’

The 31-year-old cricketer apologised to his Pakistan cricket fans for his sudden withdrawal from the last two matches at the PSL

New Delhi: Australian cricketer James Faulkner has quit himself from playing further in the ongoing Pakistan Super League and blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not “honouring contractual agreement.” The cricketer was playing for Quetta Gladiators.

The 31-year-old cricketer apologised to his Pakistan cricket fans for his sudden withdrawal from the last two matches at the PSL – which was against Multan Sultan on Friday and tomorrow’s fixture against Karachi Kings.

Taking to Twitter, the cricketer wrote an apology note, informing his fans of the reason for his withdrawal. “I apologise to the Pakistan cricket fans. But, unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from the last 2 matches and leave the @thePSLt20 due to the @TheRealPCB not honouring my contractual agreement/payments,” he wrote.

“I’ve been here the whole duration and they have continued to lie to me,” he added.

On another note, the all-rounder wrote that it “hurts” him to leave as he wanted to bring international cricket back in Pakistan. “It hurts to leave as I wanted to help to get international cricket back in Pakistan as there is so much young talent and the fans are amazing. But the treatment I have received has been a disgrace from the @TheRealPCB and @thePSLt20” he tweeted.

Australian cricketer claimed that despite his attempt to bring back international cricket in Pakistan, the ill-treatment he received from the PCB and the management of the PSL had been a “disgrace.”

“I’m sure you all understand my position,” he added.

In response to Faulkner’s tweet, PCB official Twitter page wrote, “The PCB and Quetta Gladiators have regretfully taken note of Mr James Faulkner’s false and misleading accusations and will shortly be released a detailed statement on the matter.”
