MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma fans clash in Kolhapur over hoardings, youngster beaten in sugarcane field

Meanwhile,  Rohit Sharma was bestowed with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award on Friday, his fans did the same.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, fans of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma had reportedly clashed against each other in Kurundwad of Kolhapur district in Maharashtra on Saturday.

According to reports, the clash erupted after hoardings put up by Rohit’s fans were destroyed by some unknown people which led to a confrontation between the two fan groups.

The scuffle went on such a stage that  one of the fans was dragged to a nearby sugarcane field and was beaten.

The clash between the two fans groups has left Twitter disappointed. Former India batsman Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to react to the news and urged fans to not take their fandom to another level as players always share mutual respect between them, unlike their violent fan groups.

“Kya karte rehte ho paagalon. Aapas mein players are either fond of each other or just don’t talk much, kaam se kaam rakhte hain. But kuchh fans alag hi level ke pagle hain. Jhagda Jhagdi mat karo, Team India ko- as one yaad karo (Players are fond of each other or they don’t talk much. They speak only as much as required but some fans are mad. Please do not fight against each other and treat Team India as one),” Sehwag wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile,  Rohit Sharma was bestowed with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award on Friday, his fans did the same.

Dhoni and Rohit will be next seen in action during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which gets underway in UAE from September 19. While Rohit will be leading four-time champions Mumbai Indians, Dhoni will be captaining three-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The two teams are likely to face each other in the season opener, as suggested by Rohit’s tweet earlier on Dhoni’s retirement.
