New Delhi: Viewers have been able to witness a seat-edging test match series between India and New Zealand. There have been several ups and downs with Shreyas Iyer who has been the man to rescue India in both innings with his maiden ton on his debut innings followed by a half-century in the second innings whereas the off-spinner Aswin involving himself in a hot argument with on-field umpire Nitin Menon.
However, following a bad light on Day 5, Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel’s solid defense helped India and New Zealand to settle for a draw. Analysing India’s playing strategy, many felt that the Test would end in two or two and a half sessions.
Ravindra Jadeja was the best bowler for India with figures of 4/40 while Aswin picked up three wickets. Aswin became India’s third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket surpassing Harbhajan Singh.
Meanwhile, Nitin Menon and his light meter got the attraction of millions of Indian cricket fans who were watching the match across the globe. Nitin was checking the light regularly and in the end, India had ten overs to deal with the situation, though Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel played their best game to save the match.
Earlier, during Day 3, Aswin hit the headlines for having a heated argument with the on-field umpire Nitin Menon. The argument was joined in by the skipper Ajinkya Rahane as well and the episode looked quite heated up as Aswin was a bit intimidated.
