Virat Kohli becomes first captain to lose World Cup match against Pakistan in 29 years

New Delhi: Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, India lost a world cup match against Pakistan for the first time in 29 years. Pakistan won the opening game of the Super 12s in Group 2 held in Dubai by 10 wickets.

Pakistan had an amazing start to their T20 World Cup campaign against their arch-rivals, chasing down 152 runs in 17.2 overs. This match registered their first-ever 10 wicket-win in the shortest format of international cricket.

This is Pakistan’s first-ever 10 wicket victory against any team in a T20 series. Besides, India also faced a hard time losing by such a margin for the first time. Moreover, 152 runs are Pakistan’s highest opening score against India in this format.

The present Pakistan team has played 625 matches in total, making them the most experienced team to play on the field in a T20 international. This is one of the oldest Pakistani teams, with an average age of 30+ years.

The India-Pakistan match saw Virat Kohli getting knocked off for the first time in a T20 against Pakistan after securing 226 runs. Kohli’s 57 runs helped India reach a total of 151 in 20 overs. Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Virat Kohli so far has scored 226 runs in total against Pakistan in T20 World Cups and has been knocked off only once.  In the three innings of the T20 World Cup headed by Kohli, he secured 169 runs without getting dismissed in the showpiece T20I events against Pakistan.
