‘Super fit’ Kohli may miss 1st ODI against England, netizens share their views on ‘exit’

The batter is said to have suffered a groin injury, though the extent of the injury is not known.

New Delhi: According to reports, Virat Kohli is likely to miss the 1st ODI against England. The batter is said to have suffered a groin injury, though the extent of the injury is not known. The first ODI between India and England will be played on July 12 at the Oval.

Virat Kohli has been in news for quite some time now. His recent form and series of low scores are a matter of worry for his fans. If Kohli, who is known to be one of the finest batters of ODI, misses the first game, it might give a mental edge to England. While India is likely to miss the services of Virat Kohli, for England, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root are back to strengthen the batting lineup.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the cricketer was taken for medical scans after he complained about a groin injury. He is currently being monitored by the medical team of BCCI. “Virat has a groin strain during last game. It can’t be confirmed whether it happened during fielding or while batting. He will probably miss first ODI tomorrow at Oval as the groin needs rest,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Virat Kohli was not seen at the optional net practice session. Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan were two batsmen available for the net practice. Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami were the bowlers seen practising at the nets.

Netizens are sharing mixed reactions on Twitter. Kohli’s fans are wishing him to get well soon and are hoping that they get to see him bat in the first ODI. On the other hand, some people are happy as it might give a chance to a young in-form batter.

Virat was allegedly seen on the streets of London with Anushka Sharma and their daughter. This made cricket fans angry as according to them Virat is faking an injury.

Kohli’s fans are hoping for a comeback in ODIs.

In absence of Virat Kohli, ex-cricketer Aakash Chopra picks Shreyas Iyer at number 3.

India won the T20I series 2-1 against England and will be eyeing to take the ODI trophy as well. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will be seen opening together after a long time.
