Virat Kolhi and his 71st century: Kohli pulls Rohit Sharma’s leg for speaking ‘shuddh Hindi’ during one-to-one chat

Following the match, Kolhi was interviewed by India captain, Rohit Sharma, who missed out on the match against Afghanistan.

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli registered his 71st century and with that made a tremendous comeback to international cricket during Asia Cup 2022, after a month-long break. The cricketer is in the right form from the very first match and he got only better as the tournament progressed. In India’s final match against Afghanistan, Kohli ended up scoring a century, smashing 122 runs off 61 balls.

Following the match, Kolhi was interviewed by India captain, Rohit Sharma, who missed out on the match against Afghanistan. Both the cricketers have been instances of some great show on the field with the bat and captaincy. Thus, when Sharma asked Kohli about what he felt after scoring the century, the latter couldn’t stop smiling and also pulled Sharma’s leg for speaking pure Hindi.

“Virat, bahot bahot badhaayi aapko, aapka 71st hundred. Poori India wait kar rahi thi, I am sure aap zyada wait kar rahe the. Aapne jo innings kheli usmein kaafi kuch dekhne ko mila, aapne gaps achhe dhoondhe, shots achhe lagaaye, toh apni innings ke baare mein bataaiye, kaisi shuruaat huyi, aur uske baad kaisi thi feeling (Many congratulations to you on your 71st ton. The entire country was waiting and I am sure even you were waiting. In today’s knock, we saw you were finding the gaps nicely, playing good strokes. Take us through your knock and also tell us how is the feeling,” Rohit said.

Itni shuddh Hindi bola raha hai mere saath pehli baar (For the first time he is talking to me in pure Hindi),” Kohli looked at the camera and said.

Kohli after finishing his century in style credited his wife Anushka Sharma for being with him throughout the tough phase. “I know there was a lot of stuff going outside. And I kissed my ring. You see me standing here because one person has put things in perspective for me. That’s Anushka. This hundred is for her and for our little daughter Vamika as well.

When you have someone next to you having conversations putting things in perspective, like Anushka has been… when I came back I was not desperate. Six weeks off I was refreshed. I realised how tired I was. Competitiveness doesn’t allow it, but this break allowed me enjoy the game again,” he said referring to his one month break.
