The match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 garnered 167 million viewers, marking the highest views in history of T20.

New Delhi: In the world of cricket, the greatest encounter witnessed in T20 match format is India versus Pakistan match. The match between the two arch rivals scripted history and became the most watched match in the history of shortest format of game. .

On October 24, a new record was created as the India v/s Pakistan match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 garnered 167 million viewers, which is so far regarded as the highest in the shortest format of cricket.

Previously made record fetched 136 million viewers of the semi-final match between India and eventual winners West Indies of the World Cup 2019.

In a release revealed by Star India, the T20 World Cup registered a total of 238 million views till last week including the Quarterfinals and the first 12 games of the Super 12.

“With a reach of 167 million, the highly-anticipated India-Pakistan clash on October 24th, an event that saw the arch-rivals meet at an ICC tournament after two years, is now the most viewed T20I match, exceeding the previous high India-West Indies 2016 ICC World T20 semi-finals,” the release stated.

India and Pakistan played against each other on October 24, where the latter made an amazing victory over the Men in Blue by 10 wickets. This was their first win against India in 29 years.

“The India-Pakistan match has created history by clocking a record reach of 167 million viewers, making it the most viewed T20I match till date,” said a spokesperson from Star India.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has qualified for the semi-finals. India has existed from the tournament on Monday.

“There’s no doubt that the result of the match and India’s exit from the tournament disappointed fans but the record viewership displays the unique power of Cricket to engage audiences at an unprecedented scale, the spokesperson added.
