New Delhi: Australian skipper Pat Cummins secured the second highest price at ongoing Indian Premiere League (IPL) auction in Dubai on Tuesday. The World Cup winning captain was sold at record Rs 20.5 crores, the highest price in the IPL history.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought the Australian cricketer at a whopping price of over Rs 20 crore. The Aussie player had a base price of Rs 2 crore but as his name came for auction, the franchisees got into intense bidding war and he was finally sold at Rs 20.5 crores. As the bidding price for Pat Cummins crossed Rs 20 crore, the entire arena cheered & applauded the development.

Pat Cummins led the Australian team to victory in the World Cup final against India. Though, Australia started its ODI World Cup 2023 campaign on a dismal note, the team under his stewardship rose through the ranks and lifted the title with clinical finishes in many encounters.

Cummins proven feat in the World Cup was apparently the reason behind franchisee making a hurried move to buy him.

Prior to Cummins, Sam Curran holds the record of highest price tag. He was sold in the IPL auction at a record price tag of Rs 18.50 crore.

He took 55 wickets in 50 T20Is for Australia, with the best figures of 3/15.
