As per the data provided by the Health Ministry, Maharashtra -- the worst affected state from the infection -- has a total of 1,48,843 active cases and 15,576 deaths. A total of 4,41,228 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the state up to Sunday.

In an open letter to the agency, which the researchers plan to publish in a scientific journal next week, 239 scientists in 32 countries outlined the evidence showing smaller particles can infect people, the NYT said.

In the last 24 hours, 596 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh, there are 6,186 active cases and 10,995 patients have been discharged so far, said Principal Health Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad.

The patient can be administered with 200 mg IV on day 1 followed by 100 mg IV daily for five days. The drug cannot be administered to a pregnant or lactating mother and children below the age of 12 years. Also, the patient should not have liver problems and renal complications.

Notably, the CBI had last week registered a preliminary enquiry against Tablighi Jamaat and unknown persons on a complaint alleging that the organisation's trust indulged in dubious cash transactions.

The number of active coronavirus cases stands at 89,987 while 71,105 people have been cured or recovered and one patient has migrated, it said. The death toll due to the infection has reached 4,706 in the country.

Earlier, ICMR also released revised guidelines for TrueNat, a comprehensive assay for screening and testing for positive cases for COVID-19.

The arrested persons were identified as Rahul Sanghvi (chairman of the society) and Jethalal Dedhia, who had organised the party, the police said.

Several other state governments have also allowed liquor shops to reopen and sale to begin amid the extended lockdown. Some, including Delhi, Haryana, among others, had also imposed a special 'Corona fee' on the sale of liquor.

In its latest phase, the lockdown has been eased considerably. Outside of containment zones, the only activities closed across India are passenger flights, metro rail, hotels and in-restaurant dining, malls and entertainment parks, educational establishments, places of worship, auditoriums, gyms and swimming pools, and all gatherings for cultural, political, etc reasons. All other activities are permitted.
