Citing cases of greed and power in politics, he said, in our country, a person becomes 'mad' if he is elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).

"This session is unconstitutional and illegal. Appointment of Pro-tem Speaker was also unconstitutional," says Fadnavis

Asserting that democracy is working well in the country, Malik said: "I was born to a farmer in a village. The Constitution gave me the strength to become an MLA and reach this position today. This shows that democracy is working."

After a prolonged uncertainty over the government formation that lasted for nearly a month, Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday early morning took oath for the second consecutive term as the state chief minister, while Ajit Pawar was sworn-in as his deputy chief minister.

As per sources, Shiv Sena was quite keen for a swearing-in ceremony on November 17 - death anniversary of Bal Thackeray, but leaders from Congress and NCP have refuted these speculations.

The writ petition, filed through advocates Sunil Fernandez and Nizam Pasha, termed Koshyari's decision as "arbitrary and malafide". The plea was filed by Shiv Sena MLC Anil Dattatray Parab for the party.

Top leadership of NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena is in constant huddle to explore the possibilities, still a concrete roadmap seems elusive. NCP has time till 8:30 PM today to give the letters of support to Governor.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation comprising of Girish Mahajan, Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar and Ashish Shelar met Governor Koshyari at Rajbhawan today.

Devendra Fadnavis is not part of the delegation despite being elected as BJP Legislative Party leader in Maharashtra. So, it is possible that BJP will not stake claim to form govt in the meeting.

Raut along with his party colleague Ramdas Kadam called on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, at Raj Bhawan in Mumbai and discussed the evolving political scenario in the state.
