The Union Health Ministry informed us that the last 5 lakh recoveries have been recorded in only 8 days.
Active cases in Maharashtra have reached 1,78,561, the highest in the country followed by Andhra Pradesh with 94,209.
Uttar Pradesh reported 1,248 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, said Amit Mohan Prasad, State Principal Secretary (Health) on Thursday.
Gujarat is second on the list with 4,395 cases that include 613 patients cured and 214 patients succumbing to the deadly virus.
Madhya Pradesh has reported 1,407 cases, including 127 patients recovered and 70 patients dead. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh has 1,084 COVID-19 positive cases.
The count of COVID-19 cases in Delhi reached 1,154 on Sunday. The national capital is one of the worst-affected regions by the infection in the country as it comes second only to Maharashtra which has 1,982 cases.
The first death due to coronavirus was reported from Bhopal after a 62-year-old person suffering from the infection died on Sunday night, said state health officials.
The number of coronavirus infections in India may cross 20 crore in next two months if preventive measures, including isolation and social distancing, are not followed, it read. The model also projected that COVID-19 cases may finally start to slow down or end by July or August.
