- I & B Minister Prakash Javedker on Tuesday (October 6) announced the Standard operating procedures, SOP's for cinema halls, multiplexes etc. for screening of films, as they reopen from 15th of October as per Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.

A few days ago he also spoke to globally renowned public health experts -- Professor Ashish Jha of Harvard Global Health Institute and Swedish epidemiologist Johan Giesecke regarding the COVID-19 crisis.

In its latest phase, the lockdown has been eased considerably. Outside of containment zones, the only activities closed across India are passenger flights, metro rail, hotels and in-restaurant dining, malls and entertainment parks, educational establishments, places of worship, auditoriums, gyms and swimming pools, and all gatherings for cultural, political, etc reasons. All other activities are permitted.

The Home Secretary stated that under the new guidelines effective from May 18, "states and UTs will now categorise Red, Orange and Green zones taking into consideration the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on May 17."

Sitharaman has been announcing the tranches of the Rs 20 lakh crore package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Yesterday, FM Sitharaman had announced relief and credit support related to businesses, especially MSMEs to support Indian Economy’s fight against COVID-19.

Officials added that during the lockdown, metro train services were restricted for people, however DMRC made no compromise with the maintenance of trains. Delhi Metro has made 3500 rounds during the lockdown to keep up the working conditions of trains.
