Stray dog attacks 12-year-old boy in Kerala…WATCH

New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy was attacked by a stray dog in a village in the Kozhikode district of Kerala on September 11. A video of the attack went viral on the internet and shows the dog pouncing on the young boy as he rides his bicycle in a street. Lately, a few incidents of attack by dogs have been emerging on the internet.

In the video, the dog can be seen running out of an adjacent lane and pouncing on the boy to grab his left wrist as he falls. Other kids present there managed to escape, but the 12-year-old boy was stuck with the dog. The boy can be seen struggling on the ground as the dog bites down on his wrist.

Eventually, he manages to rush into a house and free himself from the grab. The dog then ran away and three men entered the house to check on the boy who was attacked.

There has been a serious increase in stray dog attacks in Kerala, leading the Pinarayi Vijayan government to approach the Supreme Court for permission to kill rabid and violent dogs. The state government has also announced a month-long drive to tackle this problem. The drive will take place from September 20 to October 20.

Kerala to take lessons from Gujarat model? Chief Secretary to visit state for 3 days

New Delhi: In an expected development, the CPI(M)-led government in Kerala has decided to send a two-member delegation led by its Chief Secretary to Gujarat to study its ‘growth model’.

Chief Secretary VP Joy along with Umesh IAS, staff officer in-charge of Chief Secretary’s office will visit Gujarat for 3 days to study the latter’s dashboard system for e-governance. The report will be submitted to Kerala government within a week. The dashboard system was started during Vijay Rupani’s tenure in 2019.

While Congress & Left parties pull no punches in pulling down BJP model of growth and in particular Gujarat by raking up 2002 riots, this ‘lesson learning’ practice has taken many by surprise. Moreover, the Left as well as Cong party went overboard in showering Kerala model when the nation was battling Covid crisis. Kerala did well early but as pandemic persisted, it was among the worst affected states.

    CPIM

What is dashboard system, started in 2019

The dashboard scheme was launched in 2019, to monitor the district-level implementation of various government schemes. This model of ‘central control’ ensured good productivity & delivery of services of common man while also enabled the Chief Minister to monitor the role of top government officials. The system was set up with an aim to resolve the grievances of common people.

Using the dashboard scheme, the Chief Minister can easily evaluate the implementation of government schemes and also functioning of various departments. A vast database is created in the dashboard and thus allows top officials to monitor the progress on daily basis. Also, each category can be allotted a star rating, depending on its performance. This in turn facilitates competition between departments and uplifts their productivity.

    CM of Kerala

The Gujarat model of growth was also discussed at a recent meet between PM Modi and Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan. After his return to Kerala, the Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to visit Gujarat and study the dashboard system.

The move is bound to invite political reactions. In fact, BJP Kerala president, in first reaction, said that this proves that Gujarat model is the right model.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan meets PM Modi in Delhi

New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in the national capital.

“Kerala CM Vijayan Pinarayi called on PM Narendra Modi,” Prime Minister’s Office said in a tweet.

The Chief Minister will hold a press conference at 4 pm today at Conference hall, Kerala House.

This comes just a day after the Kerala Chief Minister informed that the land acquisition process for the Kochi-Bangalore Industrial Corridor, a leap forward in the industrial sector of Kerala, is progressing rapidly.

Further, this meeting holds crucial importance as several people across Kerala are protesting against the SilverLine project. The first major protest happened in Kottayam’s Madampally on March 18.

Vijayan earlier this month said that Left Democratic Front (LDF) led Kerala government will implement the SilverLine project while assuring that the state government would pay four times the prevailing market prices as compensation for acquiring land.

The 529-km SilverLine railway project will link Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Kasaragod in north Kerala, covering 11 districts through 11 stations. The journey between two stations is expected to take four hours, whereas it currently takes 12 hours to reach from one end to another.

It is also being opposed by the opposition Congress-led UDF, which has been alleging that the project is “unscientific and impractical” and will put a huge financial burden on the state.

  • IMA warns Kerala against lockdown relaxation during Bakr-Id, says will go to SC if state govt unmoved

IMA warns Kerala against lockdown relaxation during Bakr-Id, says will go to SC if state govt unmoved

New Delhi: Indian Medical Association (IMA) has red-flagged Kerala government’s decision to allow lockdown relaxations during the festival of Bakr-Id. Easing of lockdown norms would lead to mass gatherings and religious congregations, something which Kerala can’t afford at this stage. Notably, the Corona cases are mounting at a fast pace in Kerala, with some experts already hinting at the arrival of third-wave in the state.

Indian Medical Association(IMA)thank the Government of India and our Honorable Prime minister for taking all appropriate steps to face the inevitable impending third wave and mitigate its impacts in the form of infrastructure augmentation, quantitative and qualitative preparedness of Medical manpower, and building awareness of following COVID appropriate behaviors. With the sustained progression of vaccination, avoiding mass gatherings in any form is the responsible duty expected at this crucial time from every citizen of our country.

After the proactive visionary call of the Honorable prime minister to stop revenge tourism and not to invite the third wave by mass gatherings many proposed religious and pilgrimage Yatras were cancelled. The supreme court of India had also taken the issue, Suo moto, and directed everyone to play a vigilant role to mitigate the third wave.
With the dedicated and committed services of the Government and the Modern medical fraternity, today we are in the declining phase of the second wave throughout the country, except in few states like Kerala and Maharashtra where we are still having a high number of cases.

IMA is pained to see amidst the raise of cases and Seropositivity, the Kerala Government has issued an order to ease out lockdown followed in the state on the pretext of religious gatherings of Bakri Id. It is unwarranted and inappropriate at this time of Medical emergency.

IMA says 3rd wave of COVID inevitable; appeals to states to not lower guard

When many Northern states like J&K, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttaranchal have stopped, with a constructive sense of public safety the traditional and popular pilgrimage Yatras, it is an unfortunate learned state of Kerala had taken these retrograde decisions.

IMA in the larger interest of the country and wellbeing of humanity, with the sense of responsibility, strongly urge/demand the Kerala State Government to immediately withdraw this order, enforce zero-tolerance against covid appropriate behaviors, and do not deviate from its statutory duty and vision to ensure the safety of State and Nation as a whole. IMA the body of warriors of this covid war with the sense of altruism will be constrained to knock the pedestal’s of the supreme court if the state is not enforcing covid appropriate behaviors and
become a model state to curtain the raising menace of covid, by withdrawing this decision.

IMA HQ and all its members assure the state Government, all our proactive support in this consistent fight against the pandemic.

  • Not time to celebrate, time to continue fight against COVID-19: Kerala CM as LDF set to return to power

Not time to celebrate, time to continue fight against COVID-19: Kerala CM as LDF set to return to power

New Delhi: With ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) appearing poised to form the government in Kerala again, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appealed to the supporters to not celebrate the victory and continue the fight against COVID-19.

“Kerala has given a verdict in favour of the LDF. But this is not the time to celebrate with great joy as COVID19 continues to spread. This is the time to continue the fight against COVID-19. Kerala today reported 31,950 new COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths,” said Vijayan while addressing media in his assembly constituency seat Dharmadam.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister exhorted the people of Kerala to come together more than ever before, to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and to take the state forward in the path of development, welfare and secularism.

In view of a surge in COVID-19 infections, the Election Commission earlier today wrote to Chief Secretaries of all states and Union Territories and heads of political parties to prohibit the victory celebrations where the counting of votes is underway and demanded strict compliance of directions.

Vijayan took a dig at BJP’s claims about forming a government in Kerala and said, “Top BJP leaders had announced that they were moving towards forming a government. At that point, we were told that their current account here would be closed in this election. BJP leaders, including the PM, Home Minister and Chief Ministers, had come here to campaign.”

Meanwhile, CPI (M) leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan called LDF’s lead in the polls as the “victory of people”.

“People’s mandate proves that they are happy with the pro-people policies of LDF government. It is a victory of people. Prime Minister Modi with half a dozen ministers campaigned here but they even lost the one seat they had. People here have defeated communal forces,” said Balakrishnan.

Kerala has been seeing Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) alternatively coming to power for nearly four decades. With LDF bunking the trend under the leadership of Vijayan, it is scripting history.

The exit polls had predicted LDF retaining power in Kerala. As the counting for the day progress, the ruling LDF appears poised to form the government in Kerala again.

As per the latest trends from the Election Commission, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is registering a win on 21 seats and maintaining a lead on 39 more.

Among other constituents of LDF, CPI has won 4 seats and is leading on 13 seats, Kerala Congress (M) has won 3 seats and maintaining the lead on 2, NCP and Janata Dal (Secular) are leading on two seats each and Janadhipathya Kerala Congress is leading on one seat.
