Ravi Shastri

India managed to take 47 run lead in the first innings after registering a score of 341, owing to Dilip Vengsarkar's knock of 126 runs from 213 balls.

Shastri is currently coaching the Indian senior men's team and under his guidance India registered its first Test series win in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were able to pick just three wickets among them in the first Test, but Shastri was hopeful of seeing the duo making a comeback in the second match of the series.

Shastri took to Twitter to write: "Happy New Year! Guys, you have had an outstanding year in 2019 and now get ready to attack the fresh challenges ahead. Enjoy the rest. See you with 2020 vision."

Bumrah was ruled out of the Test series against South Africa on September 24 due to a minor stress fracture in his lower back. He was then replaced by Umesh Yadav in the Indian squad.

Three-member Cricket Advisory Committee- Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy- made the announcement on Friday.

Virat Kohli tweeted an image of him along with KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya, and others captioning it as 'Miami bound'.

Wicket-keeper and batsman MS Dhoni has been rested as well and Rishabh Pant will be keeping the wickets. Pant was named across all three formats while Wriddhiman Saha has found a spot for the two Tests.

India will start their West Indies tour from August 3 and will play three T20s, as many ODIs and two Test matches. This will be India's first assignment post ICC World Cup. In the recently concluded World Cup, India were defeated by New Zealand in the semi-final by 18 runs.

The current coaching staff comprising head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar, who were all given a 45-day contract extension, will get an automatic entry in the recruitment process. Meanwhile, former Tamil Nadu captain Sunil Subramanian, who was appointed as team manager in 2017, got an extension as well.
