New Delhi: The Home Ministry imposed ban on 59 Chinese apps including the video-sharing app TikTok yesterday, apparently over data security threat. Apart from TikTok, ShareIt, CamScanner, Helo and UC Browser are among others to be banned.
Govt chose to ban the apps after reports of stealing of users data and its transmission to servers located outside India.
The TikTok ban in particular invited a flood of memes and reactions on Twitter.
