Skyroot Aerospace is 1st Indian start-up firm to test fire rocket engine ‘Raman’

The firm went on to say that it dedicates the Engine to the recent space reform initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

New Delhi: Start-up India, a well-thought govt initiative may have taken time in realizing its potential but this development in space science proves that sky is the not the limit for entrepreneurs.

SkyrootAerospace, a Hyderabd- based startup has successfully test-fired its upper stage rocket engine named ‘Raman, which can place multiple satellites into orbit.

Founded by former scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Skyroot is also building India’s first privately built space launch vehicles, reports said.

“We demonstrated India’s first 100 per cent 3D-printed Bi-Propellant Liquid Rocket Engine injector. Compared to traditional manufacturing this reduced the overall mass by 50 per cent, reduced total number of components and lead time by 80 per cent. The engine is capable of multiple restarts enabling them to insert various satellites into multiple orbits in a single mission,” Pawan Kumar Chandana, Co-Founder and CEO, Skyroot Aerospace said.

Telganga minister KT Rama Rao also met the founding team of Skyroot Aerospace, congratulated the team and also extended all possible assistance from Telangana govt.

Space credits achievement to space reforms by PM Modi

The startup has so far raised Rs 31.5 crore till now and is in the process of raising another Rs 90 crore before 2021.

The firm went on to say that it dedicates the Engine to the recent space reform initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Company eyeing maiden rocket launch by Dec 2021

While the company has tested the upper-most stage engine, the initial stage engines are being manufactured. If all goes well, the company is looking forward to a maiden launch by December 2021, with the support and guidance of the Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO).
