Two-tiered pricing, 4,000 character tweet & less Ads: All about Twitter Blue service in India

New Delhi: Months after launch in United States & Europe, Twitter on Thursday rolled out its premium service, Twitter Blue for India users.

Twitter Blue is premium subscription service, under which users get coveted checkmarks next to their profile and have ‘early & special’ access to features unveiled by micro-blogging platform.

The micro-blogging platform has been going through a major overhaul after billionaire Elon Musk bought it in multi-million dollar deal. Twitter’s revamped strategy comes on back of Musk’s directive, post takeover, that the company should earn more of its revenue from subscriptions and not advertisements.

India price starts @ Rs 650, for mobile @Rs 950/-

Users can avail Twitter Blue on both Android and iOS devices. For availing this service, users will have to pay Rs 900/- monthly charge.

Users can also subscribe to Twitter’s web service, for which they would be required to pay rs 650/- per month. If any India wants to buy premium service for a year in one-go, he will get a discount of about Rs 1,000./-. They can buy Twitter blue service for full year by paying Rs 6,800 inspite of paying Rs 7,800, however this is available only for web service.

In United States, the Twitter Blue subscribers are paying $11 per month on Android and iOS devices and $8 for web.

4,000 character limit

Till now, those using Twitter to put forth their views/statements had a limitation of 280 characters, however, the same has been revised to as long as 4,000 characters, under the twitter Blue service.

Twitter says that this feature has been brought to avoid problem of ‘long scrolling and then getting lost in the middle’.

Though all users will have access to this feature, means they can view and reply to longer tweets but those with blue tick accounts can post & reply with up to 4,000 characters.

Less ad service

Those with blue tick service will also have 50% lesser ads on their Twitter timeline. Not only their posts will get priority on the micrblogging website but also, they will have the flexibility to edit their tweet, about 5 times within 30 minutes of sharing.
