New Delhi: Hardik Patel, the Gujarat chief minister, resigned from the Congress today, slamming Rahul Gandhi, the man who brought him into the party in 2019. He claimed that top officials were “distracted by their mobile phones,” and that the Gujarat Congress was more concerned with providing them with “chicken sandwiches.” Gujarat Congress leaders claimed that Hardik Patel’s letter was “dictated by the BJP” and that he was compelled to resign. According to insiders, the high-profile Patidar leader has been in contact with BJP leadership for the past two months and is expected to join the ruling party within a week. Hardik Patel has so far adamantly denied that many young leaders have switched from the Congress to the BJP in the last two years.
