Kanpur Dehat Case: Mother-daughter killed in fire during demolition drive cremated

Pramila Dixit (45) and her daughter Neha (20) were killed after their hut was set ablaze during an anti-encroachment action in Kanpur Dehat, reportedly by policemen.

New Delhi: An FIR was filed on allegations of murder, attempted murder, mischief by killing or maiming cattle, mischief by fire with intent to demolish the house, and malicious insult. The JCB used in the destruction of the victim’s homes has been confiscated.

Pramila Dixit (45) and her daughter Neha (20) were killed after their hut was set ablaze during an anti-encroachment action in Kanpur Dehat, reportedly by policemen. Apparently, the district police reported that the women lit themselves on flames. State police, however, initiated a murder charge against 13 people on Tuesday, along with the sub-divisional magistrate, the in-charge of the local police station, and the bulldozer operator, in a rapid U-turn. They also have been accused of attempted murder and causing bodily harm willingly.
