Kerala Mumps Outbreak: Know the cause, symptoms and treatment

New Delhi: Kerala has reported over 2500 cases of mumps disease. Considering the rise in cases, the National Centre for Disease Control has been put on alert. Mumps is a viral infection which is caused by the spread of paramyxovirus. The virus can easily spread if you come into direct contact with the infected person. The sad part is the infected person only gets to see the symptoms after 2-4 weeks of catching the infection. The most important symptom of the disease is the swelling of the salivary gland. Maximum cases have been reported from Malappuram district. Many other states have also reported the infection.
