New Delhi: On Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) assassinated gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, who was sought in the Umesh Pal murder case. Ghulam, another accused in the case, was also killed by gunfire. A 12-member STF squad commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Navendu Kumar Naveen and DSP Vimal Kumar Singh conducted the operation. Asad and Ghulam each had a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on their heads. Asad Ahmed had been recorded on a CCTV camera during the Umesh Pal attack and has been on a mission to flee ever since.
