New Delhi: The arrest of BJP leader Tajinder Bagga by Punjab Police was announced on Monday morning. Bagga was arrested from his Delhi residence. He was handed notices earlier, according to Punjab Police, asking him to assist in the probe. Bagga was arrested on a “complaint for instigating/incitement/criminal intimidation to cause violence, use of force, imminent harm in a preplanned and orchestrated manner by making/publishing provocative, false, and communal inflammatory statements through his interview given to the media and through his posts on Twitter,” according to the Punjab Police. It said, “The accused was served 5 Notices u/s 41 A CrPC to come and join the investigation in accordance with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court to closely follow the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Arnesh Kumar vs. the State of Bihar and others, 2014(8) SCC 273. Notices dated 09/04/2022, 11/04/2022, and 15/04/2022, as well as notices dated 22.04.2022 and 28.04.2022, were duly served. Despite this, the accused refused to cooperate with the investigation.”
