New Delhi: In a shocking incident at the Lourve Museum in Paris, when an elderly woman frantically got up from her wheelchair and smeared the famous Mona Lisa portrait with cake.

Pictures and videos of the renowned painting stained with white-colored cream from the cake went viral across social media on Sunday.

“A man disguised as an elderly woman in a wheelchair jumped up and threw cake on the iconic painting, shocking onlookers”, reported Marca.

The man reportedly tried to break the bulletproof glass which has been installed to protect the painting in the Louvre Museum.

A twitter user named Lukeee shared a couple of videos of the incident, wherein a man disguised as an old woman jumps from his wheelchair and attempts to break through the bulletproof glass over Leonardo da Vinci’s work.

After smearing the portrait with cake, he even threw roses at people around him before the security got to him.

“Maybe this is just nuts to me but an man dressed as an old lady jumps out of a wheel chair and attempted to smash the bullet proof glass of the Mona Lisa. Then proceeds to smear cake on the glass, and throws roses everywhere all before being tackled by security. ???”, wrote Lukeee in the caption.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was wearing a grey hair wig. When he failed to destroy the protection glass over the painting, he spread the cake all over the glass panel. He further addressed his fellow visitors in French before the security knocked him on the ground.

If certain media reports are to be believed, the man yelled, “some people are trying to destroy the earth, think of the earth!”.

However, the man’s motive behind doing so is not clear yet.
