VIRAL VIDEO: Woman beats her boss with mop after latter sent her lewd messages, internet calls her a ‘hero’

People are hailing Zhou for standing up to her boss like this and protecting her co-workers as well who works in a govt. agency in Heilongjiang Province.

New Delhi: A Chinese female government employee has become internet sensation and being hailed as a hero for standing up to her boss over sexual harassment. In the video which is doing rounds on the internet, a woman with last name ‘Zhou’, is beating her boss, Wang with mop while throwing books on his head. Wang is hiding his face with his fingers while saying that he was just joking in those messages.

South China Morning Post reported the incident which has now made Zhou a hero in the eyes of internet users. She was also making some calls in the video claiming that her boss sent messages like these to various women.

People are hailing Zhou for standing up to her boss like this and protecting her co-workers as well. Another woman, who’s not visible in the video says, “How is it a joke? It shows that you have bad character … Have you thought about consequences for your office?”

One user on Weibo said, “When women get harassed in the workplace, they have to get tough.”. Weibo is China’s Twitter-like service.

Prominent Chinese Feminist Activist Lu Pin , told New York Times, “Most of the time, women are forced to stay silent because it is hard for sexual harassment to be investigated. This woman took matters in her own hands to protect herself; that her behavior is gaining so much attention is a reflection that there aren’t better ways.”

State news media of China reported also reported the incident which took place in the Beilin district of Suihua. Zhou works in a government poverty agency in China’s Heilongjiang Province. An internal investigation was done after the video went viral and it was found that her boss Wang, a director at the agency, has ‘life discipline problems’. Wang has been fired from his official duties.
