Elon Musk challenges UN on solving ‘World Hunger’, says he will pay $6 billion

Previously, Musk have been in controversies such as smoking marijuana on spacecraft and giving an unpronounceable name to his youngest child.

New Delhi: The Executive Director for the UN World Food Program David Beasley, in his recent interview with CNN said, “2% of Elon Musk’s wealth” will be enough to solve the world hunger problem. As per Bloomberg, Musk is the world’s richest man with an estimated net worth of $289 billion. So, 2% of his wealth stands around $6 billion.

“$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them. It’s not complicated,” Beasley stated in a report by CNN.

Reverting back to Beasley on his statement, world’s richest man Elon Musk, who have been vocal on the serious global matters, threw a challenge to the United Nations saying, “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”

David Beasley responded, saying “Headline not accurate. $6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation. An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to Covid/conflict/climate crises.”

“With your help we can bring hope, build stability and change the future. Let’s talk: It isn’t as complicated as Falcon Heavy, but too much at stake to not at least have a conversation. I can be on the next flight to you. Throw me out if you don’t like what you hear!”, he added.

To which Musk hit back quoting, “Please publish your current & proposed spending in detail so people can see exactly where money goes.” He even posted a link to an article that alleged sexual abuse by UN officials.

Previously, Musk have also been in controversies such as smoking marijuana on the spacecraft and giving and unpronounceable name to his youngest child.
