There are many different strains of avian influenza that are present in China and people rarely get infected by them, mostly the ones working in poultry.

New Delhi: Many people around the world still believe that COVID-19 was made in a lab in China, however, no evidence has been found to prove the theory. Now, another disturbing news has been reported in China. According to some reports, a 41-year-old man from Jiangsu province of China has been confirmed to be the first human case of  an infection that has H10N3 strain of bird flu.

The man is a resident of Zhenjiang city and was hospitalised on April 28 after suffering from fever and some other symptoms, said the China’s National Health Commission (NHC) in a statement on Tuesday. He was diagnosed with H10N3 avian influenza virus on May 28, said the report but there was no information as to how the man got infected.

Reports also said that H10N3 is a relatively less severe strain of the virus found in the birds and the chances of it spreading on a large scale are very low. The man was stable and ready to be discharged from hospital. No other case of the infection was found in the medical assessments of his close friends, family or colleagues.

There are many different strains of avian influenza that are present in China and people rarely get infected by them, most of the people who get infected usually work in poultry business. The last time significant number of human infections were found was in 2016-17 when around 300 people died after contracting the H7N9 strain of bird flu.

The reports suggested that till now no case of H10N3 strain was reported across the world.
