New Delhi: Former Maldives President and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has been injured in an explosion outside his home in the Maldives’ capital Male’ City. An explosion occurred as Majlis Speaker Mohamed Nasheed was entering his car tonight.
According to the Maldive Journal, the explosion occurred near Nasheed’s residence of G. Kenereege. The Maldives Police Service has not yet made a statement regarding the explosion.
A witness told Dhiyares, the sister-newspaper of The Maldives Journal, that a loud sound was heard near there. There are reports that two people were injured.
According to some sources, Nasheed himself was injured in the explosion. The other person injured was reportedly a foreigner. There are reports that Nasheed is being treated for his injuries at ADK.
