Israeli Doctors save life by reattaching Palestine boy’s decapitated head to his neck with a ‘miracle surgery’

Speaking on the complications involved in Suleiman’s surgery, Dr Ohad said, “The procedure is very complicated and it took us several hours. While in the operating room, we used new plates and fixations in the damaged area.”

New Delhi: A major miracle was performed by Israeli doctors when they rejoined the decapitated head of an injured boy and saved his life last month.

It was not less than a race against time for the doctors when 12-year-old Suleiman Hassan was airlifted and brought to Jerusalam’s Hadassah Ein Kerem’s Trauma Centre after getting severely injured in a fateful car accident while riding his bicycle.

Doctors fight for Suleiman’s life

As the young boy, who suffered from a medical condition known as bilateral atlanto occipital joint dislocation ( internal deception) from the brutal impact of the accident was rushed right for the surgery, doctors’ expertise was tested as they performed one of the most complicated painstaking surgery that went on for hours.

Morden technology like screws, plates, rods and bone grafts were used by the doctors for reattaching the boy’s detached skull to his spinal column.

Thankfully, after hours-long efforts by the team of skilled surgeons, the surgery resulted in a success and Suleiman Hassan was declared out of danger.

Doctor Ohad Eivan speaks about the surgery

Following the successful surgery, one of the leading orthopaedic surgeons of Hadassah Ein Kerem’s Trauma Centre, Dr Ohad Eivan said, “We fought for saving the boy’s life.”

While speaking to The Times of Isreal, Dr. Eivan revealed how the young boy’s head got almost completely detached from his torso due to the brutal accident. Further speaking on the complications involved in Suleiman’s surgery, Dr Ohad said, “The procedure is very complicated and it took us several hours. While in the operating room, we used new plates and fixations in the damaged area.”

“Our ability to save the child was thanks to our knowledge and the most innovative technology in the operating room.”, he added.

“The fact that such a child has no neurological deficits or sensory or motor dysfunction and that he is functioning normally and walking without an aid after such a long process is no small thing,” Dr Eivan continued.

Notably, Surgeries like these can only be performed if the deception victim has at least their blood vessels alive which helps in preventing the person from going brain dead.

Hassan’s recovery at home

Although the surgery took place back in June, nothing about it was made public as Hassan was still recovering at his home. Now the young boy has miraculously recovered and has not encountered any neurological issues post-surgery.

Surprisingly, he can even walk by himself now without needing any aid or assistance.
