Morocco quake kills over 600: CCTV footage of people ‘running for life’ surfaces (VIDEO)

The CCTV footage shows buildings shaking and falling off due to high intensity quake. People could be seen running in the streets while some even skidding on the road.

New Delhi: A deadly earthquake struck the Central Morocco on Saturday, leaving more than 600 people dead and widespread destruction & damage.

The devastating quake with 6.8 magnitude intensity hit the country at around midnight when people were mostly inside their homes.

While the relief & rescue teams have launched big operation to excavate those buried under the debris & rubble of collapsed buildings, many frightening videos of the ill-fated night are making its way to social media.

A CCTV camera footage of the incident has surfaced, which purportedly captured the moment when 6.8 magnitude quake hit the city, killing over 600 people and leaving more than 300 injured. The death toll is likely to go further.

The CCTV footage shows buildings shaking and falling off due to high intensity quake. People could be seen running in the streets while some even skidding on the road. The 28 second CCTV video clip also shows some roof falling off while people are running away from buildings.

Some other unverified videos on social media also showed damaged buildings, some others shaking & some collapsing in the high-intensity quake. At some places, rubble could be seen strewn on the streets while some people running through cloud of dust to safer locations.

Local reports suggest that buildings & heritage sites of UNESCO have also been damaged due to quake.

The Central region of Morocco was hit by subsequent aftershock, minutes after the first earthquake. The first quake struck the nation at around 11.11 PM and the second aftershock came 20 minutes later.

Damage to parked vehicles were also reported at many locations. People were also seen crying & screaming on Morocoo’s streets, as they lost near & dear ones in the devastating quake.
