New Delhi: The Internet’s most famous meme dog Cheems succumbed to his illness and demised yesterday.
Cheems, better known as Ballteze, took his last breath on Saturday after struggling with deadly cancer for a long period of time.
Following the unexpected death of their furry friend, sorrowed netizens are grieving and sending their condolences to the dog’s parents.
The saddening news was announced by the official Instagram handle of the meme dog on which, a post having numerous pictures of Cheems was dropped along with a heartfelt note that read” Ball Ball fell asleep on 18/8. He fell asleep on Friday morning during his last thoracentesis surgery.”
“Originally, we wanted to arrange chemotherapy or other possible treatment for him after this operation, but it is too late now don’t be sad, please remember the joy that Balltze brought to the world. A Shiba Inu with a round smiling face connecting you and me, he has helped many people during the pandemic and brought a lot of joy to many of you, but now his mission has been completed. I believe he is running freely in the sky and having a lot of delicious food with his new friends. He will always be inside my heart. I hope he can continue to bring joy to everyone in the online world, that’s my only humble request.” the post read further

The Dog’s owner also thanked the internet community for showering their love and wishes for the demised dog saying, “Thank you, everyone, thank you, Balltze knows how much he was loved by all of you. All of you have been very generous and helpful, and I’m truly grateful to all of you, your love and support for Ball Ball is so unconditional and I found that is the purest love in the world, having Ball Ball in my life is the best thing ever happened.”
At the end of the emotional post, Cheems’ owners thanked the doctors for taking care of the celebrity dog during his final days and making every possible effort to save his life.
Internet griefs Balltze’s demise
Shakned by the sad news of Balltze’s passing away, thousands of netizens flooded the comment section of the Dog’s Instagram account and expressed their grief
Remembering the smiling dog, one internet user wrote, “RIP Ball I also lost my dog on the same day.” Another said, “He is a legend of the Internet world, a meme founder and now, he is immortal. Rest in love sweet Ball Ball, you were and are loved by billions all over the world.
A third user paid his condolences to the dog saying, “I’m very sorry for your loss. I will miss you and remember you Ball Cheems. You brought a lot of joy and laughter to people all over the world and you will always be fondly remembered.”

Cheems was a golden furry dog of the Japanese Shiba Inu breed. He gained massive popularity on the internet after becoming a viral meme material thanks to his unique cute smiling face. The famous dog suffered from cancer and was undergoing thoracentesis surgery during his last days on the planet.
While Balltze’s parents were looking forward to curing him through chemotherapy and other possible treatments post his surgery, the animal succumbed to his depleting health conditions and died at the age of 12.
