Scott Morrison celebrates India-Australia trade pact by cooking Khichdi from PM Modi’s Gujarat

In the Instagram post, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison can be seen taking a selfie in his kitchen with khichdi.

New Delhi: A few days after India and Australia signed an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) that is expected to double bilateral trade in the next five years, Prime Minister Scott Morrison shared some delicacies on Instagram. He also said he cooked food to ”celebrate our new trade agreement with India”. The post is being loved by many people on the social media platform.

PM Morrison also said he made the dishes after taking inspiration from PM Modi’s Gujurat province.

Scott says wife Jenny Warren, kids approved

In the post, Scott Morrison can be seen taking a selfie in his kitchen. One can see him wearing an apron and cooking khichdi, a famous Indian dish.

In the second photo, khichdi can be seen served next to Curry. Morrison also revealed in the post that, the dishes was approved by her wife Jenny Warren, two daughters, and her mother.

Sharing the selfies, Morrison wrote, ”To celebrate our new trade agreement with India, the curries I chose to cook for curry night tonight are all from my dear friend Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s Gujurat province, including his favorite khichdi.”

”Jen, girls, and mum all aprrove,” added Australian PM.

Notably, the agreement was singed in a virtual ceremony in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.

However, the implementation of the agreement will be seen in another four months.

In June 2020, PM Morrison had said while virtually talking to PM Modi, ”I wish I could be there for what has become the famous ‘Modi hug’. Next time, it will have to be the Gujarati Khichidi.”

He also added, ”I will try the dish in the kitchen before we meet in person next time.”
